10 kinds of people in every show

1. The directors wonderchild that always gets the lead, but deserves it because they’re both super talented and super nice

2. The kid that everyone in the cast hates and yet the director doesn’t see that they’re the worst

3. The one who never has their script but is somehow still off book

4. The one that also never has their script and isn’t at all off book

5. The cynic who spends the whole show saying it’s going to flop (often the person that says “this is my last show” or “I’m quitting theater” but never actually acts on it)

6. That one soprano that won’t. ever. shut. up.

7. The mom, ie. The friend who always brings food and hangs out with the both the ensemble and leads and is always on time (if you insult them, the entire company will threaten to fight you)

8. (Especially in youth/community theater) the boy that tried out without really knowing anything about theater or caring very much, but got a lead role anyway

9. The Token Straight Dude™ that every ensemble girl falls for

10. The person that’s super super good…at exactly one kind of character (99% it’s the person who gets type cast as an older person or a mom)

Bonus two:

• The person that never knows the right harmonies Jesus Christ get it together
• The mega talented actor who cares very little about the show but they’re too good to cut (often the same as the cynic)
